Indian summer

Avatar af Alsayz
Walking alone on the beach at night,
warm water washing over my feet.
The moon drift lazily across the skies,
for anyone else life would be sweet.

I guess I’m just not anybody else,
for life tonight is cold and lonely.
Just like all the other nights,
I wonder what’s left to hold me.

Maybe for just one moment,
I could feel your touch again.
The reflection of your face in a wave,
the soft touch of your skin.

I hear your voice whispering to me,
telling me your stories.
I’ve heard them over and over,
nothing ever varies.

So easy it would be,
to walk out in this watery embrace.
Would somebody even notice,
would anyone miss my face?

But you tell me to keep walking,
life isn’t supposed to be easy.
I just miss you so much,
why the hell did you have to leave me!

So I sit watching the waves roll in,
tears streaming down unchecked.
This time I’ll stay on the beach,
even though my heart is wrecked.

Contemplating to myself,
if this life is worth the cost.
My only company this night,
the ghosts of people I’ve lost.
