If Only

You have been a great friend, but a love I could never have,
The type of royal luxuries, of which I could only crave.
Two roads diverged in the wood, which one would I choose,
There can be only one outcome … either I win or lose.

This may seem absurd, but I'll dream of you tonight,
As i did many other nights … so would I tomorrow night.
I dreamt of you being with me … pledging your love and future,
If only dreams come true, Id eternalize this love in a sculpture.

We could feel the timeless scent of Paris streets,
We could kiss beneath the Eiffel Tower … like a fairytale story read.
How about a little hug tonight … from this city filled with love?
How about I kiss you once more … and take you to skies above?

The city of Venice, where ive always wanted to go.
We could live in one of those houses, and watch how the love would grow.
And we could discover the secrets in each other’s eyes, on the vaporetti,
To the jealousy of the others on board … their utmost envy.

Now look within my eyes once more … what is it that you see?
Can you see a love that is undying … for you forever to be ?
Everyone looks at us … as if we are a couple in heaven made.
Everyone looks at us … as if they are sure this love will never fade.

Ill promise you all the big adventures, as well as lifes little things,
Ill make us even happier … than ancient Queens and Kings.
If youll let me … I will give you all you need … and to the heavens we will soar.
If youll let me … I will show you being friends is not the option …for we can be so much more.
